Today more and more people are widening their sphere of compassion from their immediate family, friends and pets to encompass a feeling of love and respect for all other sentient feeling creatures. In doing so we start to make a greater heartfelt connection to Nature and all living things. After such a realization it becomes a responsibility to no longer see and accept dead animals as a meal.
Even though I am a Christian I still don’t like it when people preach to me. Somehow, for some reason I feel that the Gospel and Jesus are so reverenced in my mind that hearing someone else give me their graded understanding as the ultimate truth lowers the bar of the glorified pedestal they have in my mind. That said I want to share a line of scripture from Genesis that I feel is appropriate for this discussion. KJV Genesis Ch 1. vs. 29 “And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.” While other previsions have been made for mankind to eat meat since the flood of Noah, the perfect vision that God had for mankind since the beginning was to be a vegan, and abstain from killing and eating the flesh of other animals.
It is interesting that the longest lived people in the Bible were those from Adam to Noah, that did not eat flesh. Along the same lines are those today living in what are called Blue Zones; places on Earth where people live considerably longer than the majority of others on the planet. Ironically or not a commonality these places share is a wholefoods vegetarian diet with little to no animal foods in their diet.
When we eat a wholefoods vegetarian diet that does not include animal products there is something miraculous that happens to us spiritually. It is as if a karmic chain falls off our soul and we experience a lightness in our mind and body. This acts to quicken our mind and spirit. Not only is this a diet it is a lifestyle that connects us to the living natural world.
If you currently are a flesh eater, when you start to transition to a vegan or vegetarian diet you will undoubtedly go through a detox and withdraw period. Being aware of the adjustment and transitioning slowly can help manage the process. First start by cutting our read meat and pork, then chicken, then fish, and then dairy and eggs. Adding more fresh squeezed fruit and vegetable juices is very healthy as well.
In Conclusion, Our body is a temple where our consciousness temporarily resides while we are alive. Giving this body of ours pure vegetarian foods supports a clear conscience and a pure mind. Fruits and vegetables are the intended food of original man, and when we give our body’s this clean source of sustenance we are made more alive in body, mind and spirit. Not only does this way of eating support greater health, it also widens our sphere of love and compassion and creates more peace on earth.
